Ministry of Culture and Tourism issues congratulations on Tanabata/Qixi

On 7th July, Qinda celebrates the traditional festival of Qixi/Tanabata– also known as the Double Seventh Festival or Chinese/Japanese Valentine’s Day.

According to an ancient legend, the cowherd Niulang/Hikoboshi (symbolising the star Altair) and the weaver girl Zhinu/Orihime (the star Vega) were separated by the Heavenly River (the Milky Way), but once a year, on the seventh day of the seventh lunar month, a bridge of magpies forms, so the lovers can reunite.

On behalf of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, we wish you a joyful celebration of love, devotion, and destiny. May this day inspire you to make a wish and believe in the power of true feelings and fate!
